Collecting and Using Your Personal Data

Types of Data Collected

Personal Data

We may ask you for personally identifiable information that lets us identify or contact you. It may include, without being limited to:

  • Email address

  • Phone number

  • Usage Data

Usage Data

The Service records Usage Data on its own as you browse.

That can mean pages of the Service you open, the date and time of each visit and how long you stay, your browser type and version, your Device’s IP address, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

On a phone or tablet, we may also automatically log details such as the device model, its unique ID and IP address, the operating system and the mobile browser, plus other device identifiers and diagnostic data.

Whatever your browser sends when you visit, from a mobile device or not, may be collected too.

Tracking Technologies and Cookies

To follow activity on the Service and keep certain information, we use Cookies and comparable tracking technology. We also rely on scripts, tags and beacons to collect and track data that helps us analyze and improve the Service. These may include:

  • Browser Cookies. A cookie is a little file kept on your Device. You can tell your browser to refuse them all or to alert you whenever one is sent, but without cookies some sections of the Service may not open for you. As long as your browser is not set to refuse them, the Service may use cookies.
  • Web Beacons. Tiny electronic files, also called clear gifs, pixel tags or single-pixel gifs, may sit in parts of the Service and in our emails. With them the Company can, for example, see how many users opened a page or an email and keep related statistics, like which section is popular or whether the system and server are intact.

A cookie is either “Persistent”, meaning it remains on your computer or mobile device while you are offline, or “Session”, meaning your web browser deletes it on closing.

Both types are in use here, for the following purposes:

  • Necessary / Essential Cookies

    Type: Session Cookies

    Administered by: Us

Purpose: Without these, the Website could not offer its services or some of its features. They verify users and guard accounts against fraud. We use them for nothing beyond providing the services you ask for, which would be impossible without them.

  • Cookies Policy / Notice Acceptance Cookies

    Type: Persistent Cookies

    Administered by: Us

Purpose: They record whether a visitor has agreed to cookies on the Website.

  • Functionality Cookies

    Type: Persistent Cookies

    Administered by: Us

Purpose: Saving settings such as your login or language, so each return visit to the Website is more personal and you skip entering them again.

Our Cookies Policy and the cookies part of this Privacy Policy explain in more detail which cookies we use and what choices you have.

Use of Your Personal Data

Personal Data serves the Company in the following ways:

  • To run and look after our Service, including keeping an eye on how it is used.

  • Your Account: handling your registration as a user. The details you give us unlock the Service features open to registered users.

  • Your contracts: drawing up, honoring and completing the purchase contract for products, items or services you bought from Us, or any other contract you entered into with Us through the Service.

  • To contact You: when necessary or reasonable, we may send updates, security notices or information about features, products and services you contracted for, using email, phone calls, SMS, mobile push notifications or similar electronic means.

  • To keep You informed of events, goods and services of ours similar to ones you already purchased or asked about, with news, special offers and general information, unless you have told us you do not want them.

  • Your requests: handling and answering what you ask of Us.

  • For business transfers: if all or part of Our assets are sold or transferred through a reorganization, merger, dissolution, divestiture or restructuring, in bankruptcy, liquidation or a similar proceeding, or as a going concern, we may use your information to evaluate or complete the deal, since Personal Data on Service users can be among the assets that pass on.

  • For other purposes: we may also study data, look for patterns in site usage, judge whether promotional campaigns paid off, and evaluate your experience, our marketing, products and services, and the Service itself to improve them.

Your personal information may be passed on in these cases:

  • With Service Providers: they may receive it to help track and study use of the Service and to get in touch with you.
  • For business transfers: it may change hands as part of a merger, a sale of Company assets, a financing deal, or another company acquiring all or part of Our business, including while such a deal is being negotiated.
  • With Affiliates: they must follow this Privacy Policy if we pass your information to them. Under that heading come our parent company, any other subsidiaries, joint venture partners and companies we control or that sit under common control with us.
  • With business partners: so that they can offer you particular products, services or promotions.
  • With other users: whatever personal information you share in public areas, or reveal while interacting there, is visible to all users and may be distributed publicly outside the site.
  • With Your consent: for any other purpose, provided you agree to it.

Retention of Your Personal Data

Personal Data stays with us no longer than this Privacy Policy’s purposes call for. Some of it we retain and use longer where a legal obligation demands it (a law requiring us to store your data, say), or to resolve disputes and enforce our policies and legal agreements.

Internal analysis is another reason we keep Usage Data, normally for less time. We hold it longer only to strengthen the Service’s security or functionality, or when we are legally required to.

Transfer of Your Personal Data

Your information, Personal Data included, is processed at the Company’s operating offices and anywhere else the parties involved in processing are located. That means it can travel to, and be kept on, computers beyond your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction, where data protection laws may not match yours.

Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by Your submission of such information represents Your agreement to that transfer.

We take every reasonable step to keep your data secure and handled as this Privacy Policy says. Personal Data goes to an organization or country only if proper safeguards are in place, covering the security of your data and other personal information.

Delete Your Personal Data

Deleting the Personal Data we collected about you is your right, and you can also ask us to help with it.

Certain details about you can be deleted right inside the Service.

Account holders can sign in at any time and use the account settings to update, amend or delete their information. Anyone can also write to us and ask to see, correct or erase personal information they provided.

We may, however, be obliged to keep certain information where a legal obligation or lawful basis requires it.

Disclosure of Your Personal Data

Business Transactions

Your Personal Data may be transferred if the Company merges, is acquired or sells assets. Before that happens and a different privacy policy takes over, we will let you know.

Law enforcement

We may be legally required to disclose Personal Data in certain circumstances, including in answer to valid requests from public authorities (a court or a government agency, for example).

Other legal requirements

We may also release Personal Data when we honestly believe doing so is needed to:

  • Comply with a legal obligation
  • Protect and defend the rights or property of the Company
  • Stop or look into suspected wrongdoing involving the Service
  • Look after the personal safety of Service users or the public
  • Protect against legal liability

Security of Your Personal Data

We care about keeping Personal Data safe, yet no way of sending data over the Internet or storing it electronically is 100% secure. We use commercially acceptable means to protect it, but absolute security is something we cannot promise.

Children’s Privacy

Children under 13 are not the audience of the Service, and we do not knowingly collect identifiable information from anyone that young. Parents or guardians who discover their child gave us Personal Data should contact us. When we learn we collected data from a child under 13 without verified consent from a parent, we delete it from our servers.

If your country requires a parent’s consent and consent is the legal basis we rely on to process your information, we may need that parental consent before we collect and use it.

Links to Other Websites

Links on the Service can take you to websites run by someone else. Once you click one, you are on that third party’s site, so check the privacy policy of each site you go to.

What those sites and services publish, and how they handle privacy, is outside our control and our responsibility.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

From time to time we revise this Privacy Policy; each new version gets posted on this page.

Ahead of the effective date, you will hear about it by email and/or a prominent notice on the Service, and the “Last updated” date at the top will change.

It is worth checking back here from time to time, since changes apply as soon as they are posted.
